Usb Flash Memory Sticks
USB flash memory sticks are used to store and transfer immense amount of data. One can easily slip it into the pocket or carry it as a keychain. Some of them can even store up to 16 GB of data. They have a very durable design, making it more reliable for data transfers. They are resistant to scratches or dust unlike other storage devices in the market (CDs, floppy disks etc). The power consumption for these memory sticks are very low and hence their usage is quite common with network and system administrators. While repairing a PC one can take back up of data in this and do the repairing.
One of the drawbacks of USB flash memory sticks is that they do not have a write-protect mechanism. This puts them at the risk of getting a virus attack when connected to an infected PC and thus destroying itself.
